This is a one day course delivered by a qualified Control & Restraint trainer. It is aimed at people who in the course of their work may involve them in having to deal with clients displaying challenging behaviour. For example, Doctors, Nurses, Ambulance crews, security staff, bar staff, and betting shop staff. This is relevant to the Health and Safety at Work Act. The course comprises of de-escalation techniques as well as escape methods should you be physically attacked. The course also defines reasonable force involved to help you escape the situation should you need too. Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults & Children (SOVA), the Mental Health Act, Deprivation of Liberties (DoLs), and Mental Capacity is also covered.  The main aims of this course are to make the trainee more confident in difficult situations with the means to escape should the situation escalate. 


Course Notes


Trainees should wear loose clothing i.e. tracksuits & soft shoes. Trainees should also make the course co-ordinator aware of any physical ailments or other medical conditions prior to enrolment.
